Day 1: AIRPORT / NEGOMBO

Warm welcome & assistance at the airport. Transfer to the beach hotel in Negombo. Free relax at the beach hotel. Afternoon city tour  of Negombo, set amidst lush groves of coconut palms, it breathes the spirit of the sea. Visit the fishing village in Negombo which is  the center of the island’s fishing community. Negombo is a gourmet’s paradise with seafood in plenty, known as the country’s biggest Roman Catholic town, with huge imposing churches down almost every street and also the largest fishing village of the western part of the island. Another point of interest in Negombo is the Old Dutch Fort, which was built in 1672. It is situated near the shore and offers a glimpse into the colonization history of Negombo. However, the Fort is now in a state of disrepair. The sea &  the  catamarans are the backdrop to the Negombo scenery. Visit the fish market and other places of interest. You can have the chance of indulging yourself with one of the catches fresh from the sea such as lobsters or king size prawns. Overnight stay at the hotel.

 
 
 

Day 2: NEGOMBO / KURUNEGALA / YAPAHUWA / ANURADHAPURA

Leave after breakfast for Kurunegala, located at an altitude of 116 meters above sea level, Kurunegala is surrounded by  coconut  plantations and rubber estates. There are eight very noticeable large rocks that encircle and dominate the city. Kurunegala's rocks rise from the plain below and have characteristic names, six of which come from the animals that they are imagined to represent. Continuation towards Yapahuwa & visit the ancient temple. Arrive in Anuradhapura & overnight at the hotel.

 
 
 

Day 3: ANURADHAPURA / MIHINTALE / SIGIRIYA

After breakfast leave for Anuradhapura & visit the ruins of the first capital founded in the 5th century BC, covered by vegetation. A large number of ancient monuments of a great civilization are found here. World Heritage city Anuradhapura, in picturesque ruins, was once a major center of Sri Lankan civilization. Discover the ancient ruins, beautiful man-made lakes, monkeys and birds. "Sri Mahabodhi" the oldest historically documented tree in the world is over 2200 years. There are monuments such as Ruwanveliseya dageba; 2nd century BC with its famous Elephant wall, Thuparama dageba; 3rd century BC. Continuation towards Mihintale, the  place where Buddhism was introduced to the country. Arrive in Sigiriya. Proceed to the hotel for overnight.

 
 
 

Day 4: SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA / DAMBULLA

After breakfast climb the rock of Sigiriya located in the north-central part of Sri Lanka, preserves the architectural tradition of the country. The town is famous for its rock, gardens and sanctuary. Sigiriya has spectacular importance in Sri Lanka. An ancient palace complex, erected during the reign of King Kasyapa, has been declared by UNESCO a world heritage site. Many experienced tourists call Sigiriya the most favorable place in Sri Lanka to visit and the classical realism of Sri Lanka. Afternoon leave for Polonnaruwa, the medieval capital of the country well known for its rock carved Buddha statues Known as "Gal  Vihara" also the location where many monks have recorded and written early history on the Thuparama Gal Potha (Stone Book) and visit other places such as the Parakrama Samudra; Royal Palace, the Kiri Vihara, is one of the most interesting places in Sri Lanka with many well preserved ruins  of  palace  and  monasteries  which  easily  make  every  tourist  impressed.   Visit  theold temples  which  are  marvelous  examples  of  Buddhist  and  Hindu  culture. Arrive  inDambulla. Proceed to the hotel for overnight.

 
 
 

Day 5: DAMBULLA / NALANDA / MATALE / KANDY

After breakfast visit Dambulla. In Sri Lankan history Dambulla cave complex dates back to 3rd and 2nd centuries BC. Even before the making of the complex it was well established as one of the largest monasteries in  Sri  Lanka. 1st Century BC also called as the Golden rock temple where you will discover some of the marvelous rock paintings of Sri Lankan history. Dambulla caves have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Afternoon leave for Kandy. En route visit Nalanda Gedige the Abu Simbel of Sri Lanka. Nalanda Gedige is one of the number of remarkable archaeological sites in Sri Lanka. Also visit a spice garden & batik factory in Matale. Arrive in Kandy late in the evening, the center of the traditional arts in Sri Lanka. Overnight at the Hotel.

 
 
 

Day 6: KANDY CITY


After breakfast leave on a city tour of Kandy. Visit the city center, market area, shopping in Kandy, where you could fetch  souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, and bronze, ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewellery and rush and reed ware. Visit the Kandy Museum. Afternoon visit the royal botanical gardens of Peradeniya which is well known for its large number and variety of plants. This garden is best known for its collection of orchids. Visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic and late in the evening witness a Sri Lankan traditional dance. Overnight stay at the hotel.

 
 
 

Day 7: KANDY / PINNAWELA / KANDY
After breakfast leave for Pinnawela. En route visit the ancient temples around Kandy, namely Lankathilaka, Gadaladeniya and Embekka which belong to the Kandyan period, known for their Hindu and Buddhist architecture and for the magnificent wood  carvings found in the Embekka  temple.  Afternoon  visit  the  unique  elephant  orphanage  in  Pinnawela.  This orphanage was established to feed, nurse & house young elephants found abandoned by their parents due to various reasons. Best time to visit  the orphanage is the time of feeding & bathing. Return to the hotel.

 
 
 

Day 8: KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA (Possibility of a train trip)

After breakfast leave for Nuwara Eliya, which is the heart of the tea country located at an elevation of approximately 1980  meters in the central highs, which offers north tropical and cool mountain climate. In the nights the temperatures fall low enough  to produce a frosty atmosphere. En route visit a tea factory for a freshly brewed cup of tea and witness the manufacture of  the world famous ‘’ Ceylon tea ‘’. Gregory Lake is one of the attractive locations in Nuwara Eliya. Spend the evening walking in the cool climate. Arrive at the hotel for overnight.

 
 
 

Day 9: NUWARA ELIYA / ELLA

After breakfast leave for Ella & view the misty mountains, waterfalls, tea plantations & other vegetation. Overnight stay at the hotel.

 
 
 

Day 10: ELLA / YALA

After breakfast leave to Yala, a safari by jeep. You will spend about 3 hours at Yala National Park. Arrive at the hotel for overnight.

 
 
 

Day 11: YALA / UNAWATUNA

After breakfast leave to Unawatuna, a major tourist attraction and famous for its beautiful beach and corals. Arrive at the hotel for overnight.

 
 
 

Day 12: UNAWATUNA / GALLE / HIKKADUWA

After breakfast leave to Galle and visit the Dutch fort, museum & church. Most of the administration of Galle still takes place from the fort .The view from the ramparts is superb. The Galle fort is a world heritage site and the largest remaining  fortress in Asia built by European occupiers. Proceed towards the beach for relaxation. Arrive at your beach hotel for overnight.

 
 
 

Day 13: HIKKADUWA (BEACH FREE DAY)

Free day relax at the beach hotel. Spend time under the warm sun, pristine white sand and get your feet wet or have a swim on the gentle waves slip softly to shore. Overnight stay at the hotel

 
 
 

Day 14: HIKKADUWA / NEGOMBO

After breakfast leave for Negombo. Possible visits, to a mask museum in Ambalangoda, Balapitiya river safari, visit a turtle hatchery at Kosgoda. Overnight stay at the hotel.

 
 
 

Day 15: NEGOMBO / AIRPORT

After a wonderful & unforgettable experience in the tropical heaven, transfer to the airport. Departure according to the flight schedule.

Replacement of a vehicle in case of breakdown:

Transport:

Rent a vehicle for 15 days with a minimum of 1650 Kms, Rs 51 per additional km.

Remarks - All tours commence from the Airport and end in Colombo.
